Tuesdays @ 6:00-8:30pm, June 23-August4 **No Class on June 29 - July 5** Nerikomi is a Japanese pottery technique that involves mixing and pressing multiple colors of clay to create designs. The word "neri" means "to mix or blend" and "komi" means "to press". This NEW six week class will introduce you to all things Nerikomi! By the end of this handbuilding course, students will understand how to color clay with mason stains, create patterns and turn their designs into dinnerware. Explore this fascinating technique with us and gain a new perspective on ceramic design! Week 1: Studio etiquette, nerikomi introduction, & designing patterns Coloring clay with Mason Stains Week 2: Simple assembly Week 3: Advanced ware assembly Week 4: Complicated patterns & designing your own nerikomi Week 5: Finishing greenware & sanding Week 6: Glazing day Class includes: - 25 lbs of clay - 3 choice of mason stain colors base which will make 5 colors to use in the class - 6 weeks of 2.5 hours of instruction - Unlimited use of the studio during open studio hours - Firing fees - Glazes
