495 US dollars
9th Street

Service Description

Tuesday Nights: Marquetry refers to the practice of creating images in wood. Double bevel marquetry is a technique in which both the field piece and the inlay piece are cut simultaneously with the blade at an angle to the workpieces permitting the inlay piece to fit snugly into the field piece. The purpose of this class is to introduce students to double bevel marquetry and is suitable for students with little to no prior woodworking experience or exposure to marquetry. In this class, students will become familiar with the attributes and applications of wood veneer and techniques specific to marquetry for creating images in wood. Students will begin by completing introductory exercises before moving on to a simple practice piece. Much of the class will then be dedicated to a final piece of the students’ choosing.
