Service Description

Join us for a special Luster Firing Session May 2nd, 8 PM at Clayroom SoMa where you’ll learn how to elevate your ceramics with a shimmering, elegant touch! In this special Luster Firing Session, you'll learn how to apply luster, an overglaze that adds a radiant gold or mother-of-pearl finish to your glaze-fired pieces. This session is open to Clayroom members looking to enhance their work with a luminous, decorative layer. Gold luster is most effective in small or repeated applications, making it ideal for fine details. While mother-of-pearl luster can be diluted and applied to larger areas for an iridescent sheen. These two lusters should not be used on the same piece, as they require separate firings. Please note: luster contains metal and should not be applied to pieces intended for microwave use. Requirements: Bring up to 4 glaze-fired pieces ready for luster application by May 2nd (Pieces will be approved by staff).
