Sign Ups Open January 9th at 11am! Sunday, March 15th 11am-5pm (1 hour lunch break) Clayroom SoMa, 375 9th Street Description: In this handbuilding workshop, students will create a "sleepy” pinch pot, learning the fundamentals of figurative face sculpting in clay. Using simple pinch-pot construction as a base, participants will build personality and emotion into their forms through features, texture, and subtle shaping techniques. The "sleepy" design is inspired by a reflection of Camila's own family and can be altered to reflect your own! Bring a photo or even a mirror to use as a reference in studying facial details that will be translated through clay. Camila Lim-Hing is a ceramic artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Camila’s work draws inspiration from their multicultural background and the vivid memories of her childhood in Jamaica and South Florida. Her Chinese and Hispanic heritage infuse her creations with a blend of cultural influences that enrich her artistic vision. Along with figurative sculpture, Camila also does wheel thrown production work ranging from dinnerware to espresso cups for local cafes and restaurants. With over ten years of ceramic experience, she has accumulated an in depth understanding in both hand building and wheel throwing, integrating functionality, sculpture, and painting. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida in Anthropology with a minor in Studio Art in 2020. https://limsclay.com/
