Lamp Making Mixed Medium (Session 2)

Service Description

Thursdays 6:00pm-9:00pm, February 20th - March 27th Wheel Throwing joins Wood Turning in this advanced class at SoMa. 3 weeks will be spent making a lamp body on the clay side. 3 weeks will be spent working on the lathe making the neck of the lamp and potentially a base. This class will teach you the skills that will advance your wheel throwing and an introduction to the lathe. This is a fast paced class and attendance at each class is highly recommended as each class will build on the last. Each student will walk away with a functional lamp. All materials included (lamp shade not provided but lamp hardware included). Ceramics side Week 1: Design + throwing. Week 2 - How to trim and design the base to match the wood base Week 3 - Glazing / spray booth glaze demo. Wood side Week 4 - Turning basics intro to spindle turning Week 5 - Work day in woodshop to turn the neck. Week 6 - Work day! Finish and neck. Assemble lamp!
