Intro to Woodworking: Boxes (S4)

Service Description

Learn the fundamentals of fine woodworking in this 6-week introductory class. Over the course of the class, students will make several small boxes while learning all of the major woodworking machines, including the miter saw, jointer, planer, table saw, band saw, and router table. This class will focus on smaller-scale woodworking, joinery, and problem-solving in the wood shop. will be the butt joint, the rabbet joint, and the miter joint. SKILLS TAUGHT Cutting rough lumber on the compound miter saw Planing lumber on the planer Jointing lumber on the jointer Ripping lumber on the table saw Cross cutting lumber on the table saw Using the router table Cutting rabbet and miter joints Gluing up small boxes ATTENDANCE / MAKE-UP POLICY During this class, students will have access to the shop during class time only. In the event of an absence, students can make up their work during one of our office hours. The office hours schedule can be found on our woodshop calendar here: https://www.clayroomsf.com/woodshopcalendar. Students should communicate with their instructor about what work they need to complete to catch up before coming to office hours. CLASS COST: 18 hrs * $25/hr + $25 material cost = $475
