Intro to Handbuilding (session 5)

Thursdays @ 5:45-9:00 pm, June 25- August 6 **No class on June 29-July5** Six weeks of clay instruction designed for beginner (little to no experience) potters who would like to learn the basics of handbuilding. Students will explore pinch, coil, and slab techniques to create functional and sculptural wares including cups, mugs, bowls, plates, figures, and more! Week 1: Introduction to Handbuilding techniques: coil building and pinch pots Week 2: Slab-building techniques with templates, surface design, and a lecture on clay stage Week 3: Continued: Slab-building using slump molds, and Glazing Week 4: Intensive greenware surface treatment and approaches to larger forms Week 5: Working day Week 6: Glaze party! All-inclusive including: - 25lbs of clay -6-weeks of 2.5 hours of instruction - Unlimited use of studio during open studio hours - Firing fees - Glazes
