Service Description
Mondays @ 6:30-9 pm, February 16th - March 23rd Week 1: Tile Project Overview: Students will create a series of six tiles that form a cohesive collection. Each student will explore unity through shape, color, texture, and surface design. Students will sketch ideas and experiment with relief, carving, and underglaze techniques. Week 2: Wall Planters Overview: Students will design and build wall planters using slab-building methods and templates. Emphasis will be on creating dynamic yet structurally sound forms suitable for hanging. Surface finishes and attachment techniques will also be covered. Week 3: Altars & Candle Sconces Overview: Students will explore personal symbolism and ritual through the creation of altars or candle sconces. Focus will be on form, function, and concept development. Students will experiment with combining hand-building techniques (slabs, coils, attachments) and incorporate texture and pattern for visual interest. Week 4: Curio Shelf Overview:Students will sketch and plan a curio shelf that reflects their personal aesthetic or thematic direction. Construction will begin using slabs or coils, focusing on balance, joinery, and form. Week 5: Curio Shelf Continued Overview: Students will continue constructing and refining their curio shelves. Focus will be on finishing details, smoothing, and surface preparation for bisque firing. Week 6: Glaze Day & Potluck Overview: Students will learn best practices for glazing larger pieces, including application methods, layering, and glaze safety. A community potluck will celebrate the completion of the session, and students will reflect on their body of work.
