Service Description

Tuesdays @6:30 pm, May 14th - June 18th Ever wanted to create a stool, a side table, a unique hanging wall shelf, or something original for your home? Learn to take your handbuilding skills to the next level to create bigger utilitarian objects and sculptural pieces with working artist, Jo Ko. This class is great for intermediate and advanced hand builders who want to create more complex forms by going larger in scale. Week 1: Abstract Organic Forms and Functionality -Building miniature mock-ups -Learning intermediate handbuilding techniques (Coil building and slab building) -Building bigger more efficiently Week 2: Start Building and Internal Structures and External Supports Week 3: Continue Building Up and Surface Textures + Learning Smaller Decor -Carving, adding 3D patterns -Demos on Start building smaller home decor pieces. Week 4: Introduce Underglaze and Glazing -Spray Booth + Glazing Methods Week 5: Last Week to Complete Sculpture - Final Work Day Week 6: Glaze Day/ Final Class Level: Intermediate Materials Included: 25lbs clay, tools, slips, firing, 6 weeks of instruction. Note: Maximum scale is at 14 inches tall and wide for project pieces.
