Service Description
Handbuilding with Intention – Create Work That Connects! Friday (August 1st) Free Artist Talk open to the public @ 7pm Saturday (August 2nd): 10am-5pm w/ 1 hour lunch break Sunday (August 3rd): 10am-5pm w/ 1 hour lunch break Clayroom SoMa; 375 9th Street Why do some works speak louder than others? At the heart of all creative practice lies a desire to connect, to communicate something meaningful. In this workshop, we’ll explore the visual language of art and design and how to harness it to create work that resonates. Together, we’ll dive deep into how form, texture, and gesture can tell a story and invite the viewer into a deeper, more memorable experience. Through handbuilding, you’ll learn not only technique but, more importantly, how to move past it and use it as a powerful tool for expression. We’ll look at key visual elements like positive and negative space, transitions, silhouettes, and material choices as a vocabulary through which your work can speak. At the end of this workshop, you’ll walk away with a rich set of new creative tools to further your artistic journey, not just in skill but in how you think, see, and speak through your work. Whether you’re looking to deepen your practice or spark new ideas, this experience is designed to shift your perspective and unlock new creative possibilities. Come curious, leave with clarity, voice, and direction. About Lincoln Mayne Lincoln Mayne is a multidisciplinary artist and designer with a deep focus on ceramics.
