Color in Clay (Session 1) 2025

Service Description
Wednesdays @ 5:45-8:15pm, January 8th - February 12th This class will be a combination of hand building and wheel throwing with colored clay meant for students with previous clay experience. Students will learn how to add mason stains to clay and slip, create patterned blocks for slab building (nerikomi), marble clay on the wheel, and create different surface design patterns through slip transfers and sgraffito. The goal of this class is to make functional dishware that we can glaze with clear. Day 1 - how to color clay (wedge in mason stain) + prepping nerikomi blocks Day 2 - how to color slip (adding mason stains to slip) + inlay into slabs Day 3 - Marbling clay on the wheel (different ways to throw with colored clay) Day 4 - slip transfers, underglaze transfers, sgraffito, surface design Day 5 -finishing work day Day 6 -Glaze party !! This course includes: 25 lbs of Clay, mason stains, colored slip, glaze, firing fees, open studio time.
