Animation for Everyone: Stop Motion Gifs

Saturday, April 19th 10am-2pm Clayroom SoMa, 375 9th Street Dive into the creative world of stop motion animation with our beginner-friendly one-day workshop. This immersive class covers the basics of a free stop motion app, introduces basic animation principles, and encourages hands-on experimentation with paper, clay, and found objects to create fun, looping animations on your mobile phone. By the end of the class, participants will learn to export their creations as looping GIFs and video, ideal for messages to friends, email attachments, or social media posts. This class will teach students how to use a Stopmotion software you can download on your phone and can be used for creating process videos in a ceramic process. No experience necessary, all are welcome! Annie Wong, also known as Headexplodie, is a mixed-media artist and Giphy Featured Artist with over 29 billion views. Her project, “Ovary Actions,” has received global coverage. Wong’s commissioned works have been featured by The Washington Post, The Greater Good Science Center, Adult Swim, and Meta. She teaches animation at the Academy of Art University and Cal State East Bay. Wong is a public speaker who has presented for Creative Mornings, Pictoplasma, and International Assembly. Her achievements include the 2020 Excellence in Journalism Award for The Science of Happiness Video Series and being featured in The New York Times’ The Best of Illustration 2019.
